Project of the Week~ Make your own snow!

What do you do when it is December and everyone is in the mood for snow, yet the forecast does not call for any?  You make your own! This project is definitely rated 5 out of 5 stars! Easy to make, kid friendly and loads of fun! Plus, if your kids are ages 4 and above they can do it by themselves after you get them started!

  Make your Own Snow
Supplies:
InstaSnow (found HERE at Amazon or your nearest craft store)
Water
Tray to contain your mess

Step 1: Pour water into your dish.
Step 2: Add the white powder.

Step 3: Watch the gel expand and turn into snow!
If the snow is too wet and gel like add more powder in small increments at a time.
Make small batches because everyone will want to make their own snow!

Get ready....It is time to play and stir and dump and smoosh and smash and...whatever your heart desires!  Get ready for a lot of ooohhhs and aaaahhhhhs, squeals and giggles!  I kept it on a tray just for clean up sanity!  Plus, I wanted to use it for a fun photo shoot!
 Result: Hours of Fun!
Time to head outside for a photo shoot!

Project of the Week ~ Acorn Fun!

Rainbow Acorns

When you have a million acorns that the kids have collected....you start to wonder what you can do with them besides sweeping them up in the vacuum cleaner all day long!
Here is a fun and EASY project that all ages can participate in!
Gather Acorns.

Pop the tops off and discard the body of the acorn.

Color the inside of the tops with vibrant washable markers.

Fill with Elmer's Glue.

Set in a bowl of rice or beans.

Let dry for 3 days. You will see the colors bleed over the few drying days.  We had to check on them about a million times a day.  Let's just say that with little people that like to keep checking on them a very high and safe place is needed to keep them safe!

Use as a fall decoration or work on preschool topics such as matching, colors, sorting, counting, color mixing, etc!

I found this on Pinterest but since then the original post has disappeared into cyberspace.

Project of the week ~ Glowing Jars

Glowing Jars

Step 1: Cut the end of a glow stick
Step 2: Shake the liquid into a jar.
Step 3: Place Saran Wrap on the jar and screw on a jar ring.
If you have canning jar lids they would be more durable with little
fingers that may be tempted to poke the Saran Wrap.
You now have a cool night light!
***Beware of glass inside the glow stick tubes.***
The Glow sticks have a shorter life span once they are opened compared
to keeping them as bracelets and necklaces.

Olympics ~ Coloring Contest

Coloring Contest

We held a coloring contest during the Opening Ceremonies.  Everyone loved it and now I have some fantastic Olympic art work displayed in our kitchen!  I found a great site with coloring pages for every event and more! The bonus is that everyone got a Gold Medal!  Click here to see how they made their Gold Medals!

You can click HERE to be taken directly to Activity Village (a UK site!) which is the site to print your own free coloring pages!

Have Fun!
